David Brent French

David Brent French was born on August 20, 1968 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Cliff and Elaine French. He was a die-hard LSU fan. He met his wife, Julie, of 28 years while attending Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida. The two traveled together with their college music group, the Aletheian Singers, for four years touring churches around the country. He married the love of his life in May of 1989. Brent was the father of three beautiful children who he loved very deeply with all his heart. He has served on staff at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church for the past 19 years as the Worship Pastor until his recent diagnosis of cancer. Through this illness birthed a new ministry called CanHope. CanHope is an outreach ministry to provide support and hope, a hope that He believed could only come from sharing the work on the cross by Jesus Christ, to those walking through debilitating diseases. Brent was best known for his contagious smile, a smile that could make a stranger feel right at home. He had a servant’s heart not only as a Pastor but as a husband, father, son-in-law, and brother. His love for the Lord and desire to share the gospel was magnified during his time of suffering. Never has his voice been louder about the redemption, restoration, and Hope His Lord and Savior brought to him. On August 22, 2018 he passed away peacefully at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas with his wife and his eldest daughter by his side. Brent is preceded in death by his father, Cliff French. He is survived by his wife Julie, his three children, Molly, Taylor, and Jonathan, his mother, Elaine French, his mother-in-law, Nancy Smith, his brother, Dwayne, his sister Kim Jones (Darren), and numerous nieces and nephews. Brent will be missed by many, he was an encourager to all who crossed his path. He has left a huge footprint on this world that even the greatest of tides could never wash away. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his CanHope ministry (CanHope, a ministry of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church) which will carry the torch of his legacy. Visitation will be Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. and his celebration of life memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church. In Christ, Molly French
