David Manly "Dave" Dyster

David Manly Dyster, the son of Irma Weston and David Lee Dyster, died peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2021 in Pensacola, Florida. David was beloved by all. He was best known for his quick wit, servant's heart, and love for family. Born in Grand Bay, Alabama on January 18, 1949, he had a deep appreciation for the simplicity of life. His fondest memories include time spent on the farm with his grandfather and hero, Isaac Manly Weston. In the summer of 1968, while visiting his parents in Fort Walton Beach after his freshman year at Mobile College, he met Janene Perrin, who would soon become the love of his life. He followed her to Carson Newman College, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. They were wed on October 2, 1971 and moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he worked as an accountant for the State of Florida and lived for 25 years. After seven years with the state, he went on to work for BellSouth for the next 18 years. David was ordained as a deacon and the two became active members at First Baptist Church Jacksonville and found their ministry serving in the College and Career Department. On September 5, 1976, their ministry grew as they welcomed their first child, Julia Michelle Dyster, into the world. Just seventeen months later, on February 24, 1978, Amy Elizabeth was born, followed by David Mitchell in June of 1980 and Jonathan Mark in October of 1981. David had found his ultimate calling as a family man. As a father, he coached Julie and Amy's softball teams, David and Jon's baseball teams, he worked swim meets, served as a Troup leader for Boy Scouts, and never missed a game, meet, or match. He went on numerous mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, helping to rebuild churches, ministering to the needs of impoverished families, and overall supporting Janene in her dreams and endeavors. David was an example to us all of what it means to give your life away. On any given Saturday, if he wasn't on the ballfield or participating in his kids' activities, David could be found enjoying the beach, piddling in his workshop, working in the yard, or taking a nap. After moving to Pensacola in the summer of 1996, he managed the law office of Lois B. Lepp, P.A. until he retired in 2018. David was a faithful and active member of Olive Baptist Church. David Dyster is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janene Perrin Dyster, and his four children, Julia Dyster Wolfe, Amy Dyster Phillips, David Mitchell Dyster, and Jonathan Mark Dyster (Kumi). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ellie Dianne Wolfe, Kahlin Faith Peay, Aubrey Elizabeth Wolfe, Brayden Christopher Phillips, Ethan Robert Wolfe, and Neely Jane Phillips. He is also survived by his only sibling, Ruth Elizabeth Dyster (Al Moore), his cousin Margaret Anne Morrison (Bryan), other cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. On Friday, October 29, 2021 a memorial service will be held at 3 pm at Faith Chapel South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, Florida, with visitation at 2 pm. The service will be officiated by Dr. Ted Traylor. A reception will follow immediately after at Olive Baptist Church, 1836 Olive Road, Pensacola, Florida.
