David Micheal Byers

David M. Byers passed away peacefully on December 09, 2024, at the age of 78 years old. Heaven just received the kindest and funniest soul with the most boisterous laugh. David was born the eighth of nine children to Estelle and Luna Byers of Warren, Michigan. He was a heavily sought after All State, All Conference, All American High School football player in the 1960’s. He chose the University of Michigan on a football scholarship and wore #77 proudly. He loved ‘Maize and Blue’ to the day he died. During the 1980’s-1990’s, David was the Chief Business Executive for a technology firm based in Detroit, MI. His strength was building up struggling corporations and turning them into powerhouse profit makers through mainframe computer coding. David was also a part time Instructor of Computer Science at Northwood University in Midland, MI in the 1980’s. He would eventually obtain his Private Pilot’s License, and later own an International Flight School in Florida during the 1990’s. In his older years he was a Sales Manager within the Florida Pest Control industry. He would later fulfill his dream of becoming an author. His hobbies were reading, watching movies, college football, and fishing. David absolutely loved reading and was known for always having a book in his hand. He loved his family above all else. He always referred to his wife of 53 years as his “beautiful bride” and “his reason for living”. He joins his wife, Donna, in heaven only three and a half months after her own passing, showing how true love shall never be separated. He loved his children Michael and Heather, and ensured they knew his love for them daily. His most savored role was being a grandpa. He loved his grandchildren beyond measure. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Byers; his parents, Estelle and Luna Byers; a sister, Viney Jane, who died in infancy; a brother, Roger, who died at age four; brothers, Bill, Jim, and Ronald; sister, Linda Burkhalter; sisters-in-law, Doris, Nancy, and Sara; nephews, Jimmy Byers and Jason Byers; and several cousins. He is survived by his children, Michael (Ileana) Byers and Heather (Terry) Gates; grandchildren, Mathew Phillips, Abigail Byers, Michael Byers, Jr., Sofia Byers, and Elijah Byers; brothers, Larry Byers and John Byers; brother-in-law, Larry Burkhalter; cousin-in-law Gary (Aska) Comet; along with a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews, and treasured dear friends. In honor of my father, who wanted this song lyric by Gale Garnett incorporated post death: “We’ll sing in the sunshine. We’ll laugh every day. We’ll sing in the sunshine. And I’ll be on my way”. Rest in peace dear dad. You will forever be loved and missed.
