Colin Aubrey Morris

Colin Aubrey Morris passed away on January 22, 2023 at home in Pensacola Fl. He was born on January 3, 1943 to Henry A. Morris and Thelma Hilton Morris in Pensacola FL. Aubrey attended public schools in Escambia County, graduating from Escambia High in 1960. He attended Florida State University before enlisting in the military where he served in the United States Air Force, the United States Air Force Reserve, and eventually retiring from the United States Army Reserve in 2003. In 1991 he was called to active duty with the Army in support of Operation Desert Storm. In 1965 Aubrey continued his education at Florida State University graduating in 1966 and returning to teach at Pensacola High School. Aubrey was a lifelong learner and educator, earning two undergraduate degrees and one graduate degree and teaching at the high school, adult high school, and college level eventually retiring after teaching 32 years at Pensacola State College. His passion was sharing his love of learning with his students and nothing made him happier than seeing them succeed. After a whirlwind romance, Aubrey married Charlotte Novak on July 3, 1968. They were blessed with 54 years together, enjoying many trips, family gatherings, and FSU football. Aubrey and Charlotte had two daughters who became the core of their love and support. Aubrey spoke with pride when telling others of their educational accomplishments. In addition to his teaching and military careers, Aubrey and Charlotte owned and operated M&S Bookkeeping from 1972 until his death. He also enjoyed jointly owning and operating several businesses with his siblings over many decades. Aubrey had many hobbies and pursued each with passion. He was active in the Pensacola Masonic Lodge, Hadji Shriners, and volunteered with numerous local organizations. Aubrey is predeceased by his parents, daughter Sara Morris, sister Dolores Seals, and brother Harold “Sonny” Morris. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, his daughter Suzanne Sullivan (Jim), and grandchildren Miranda and Shane Sullivan. He also is survived by his sister in-law Barbara Morris and numerous nieces and nephews. Aubrey’s intellect, dry wit, sarcasm, and devotion to his family will be greatly missed.
