Carol Jo Pfeiffer

Carol Jo Pfeiffer, age 83, died peacefully on April 17, 2021 after a night of crying, singing and praying with many of her family members surrounding her bed in a ring of love. She was a 1955 graduate of Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama, and spent more than 30 years as an office manager at the West Florida Medical Center’s dialysis clinic. A volunteer at Health & Hope Clinic and dedicated member of East Brent Baptist Church, she lived a quiet but impactful life of cooking, gardening, singing and serving all that she came to meet, including her husband of 17 years, Ronald J. Pfeiffer. Her thumb was the greenest of greens, with blooms filling the air with vibrant color and scents nectar sweet. Her kitchen was her office where she combined the same ingredients others use, yet always generated a superior result. Her fudge was silky smooth; her chocolate chip cookies handed out at birthdays trumped all other gifts. She baked cakes beyond compare and loved sharing them with others in times of need. Of all that she loved, her greatest love was reserved for the children. She was the first to break out the sand toys and the last to leave the playground. The list of those who called her Nana or Mawmaw expanded far beyond her blood lineage. She brought joy and wonder to the innocent face of a child, whether of her own offspring or not. Mrs. Pfeiffer is survived by her husband Ronald; her brother Ray Foster; her three children Cathy McCullough (Robert), Mike Kimbrell (Teresa) and David Ritchie (Therese); her step-daughters Karinne, Priscilla and Ziomara Vazquez; her first cousin Patti Roberts-Watkins; nieces and nephews Tresha, Ricky, Tammy, Brian, Kenny, Shannon, Rachel, Jared; grandchildren Lauren (Jeben), Ryan, Stephen (Lauren), David (Lori), Nathan (Haley), Maria (Clay), Ashley, Justin (Sheilamae), Bradley, Felicia (Chase), Joey (Emily), Zack and Joshua (Selena); and great-grandchildren (Indiana, August, Lily Kate, Ainsley, Carter, Anna Grace, Katie Brook, Cash, Reagan, Grayson, Brayden and Evan). She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Kate Foster, as well as her sisters Jean, Jerry and Janice. Special thanks to those who helped ease her comfort during her final days, especially her neighbor, Joan McCarty, her many friends at her church who sent cards and brought meals, and the wonderful staff at Emerald Coast Hospice, including Cheryl, Joan and LaShay. Visitation will be Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM. Pastor Wade Rials and Deon Hawkins will be officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL, at a later date.
