Carol Capers Geary

Carol was a devoted wife, mother, sibling and friend. There was nothing she would not do for anyone if it was at all possible. She was born in Bon Secour, AL on June 25, 1934 to John and Bessie Capers, the second of nine children. She worked hard for her LPN license while raising her daughter, Kathy. She worked in a Catholic hospital in Long Beach, CA for a while and travelled to Morocco and Japan working for the Red Cross. She had her son, Ron in 1967 and was adopted by Rob in September 1975 and raised as their own. She met Rob in 1973 while he was in the U.S. Navy. They married in February of 1974 and travelled to different duty stations until his retirement in 1981 where they settled in Pensacola, FL. She loved reading her bible and was a devout Christian. She was a country girl at heart. Loved the outdoors and fishing. Big city life was uncomfortable for her. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Bessie Josephine Capers; brothers, John Capers, Jr. and Robert Eugene Capers; sisters, Alice Lucille Langham, Laura Mae Parnell and Doris Elizabeth Huff. She is survived by her loving husband, Rob Geary; daughter, Kathy Suzanne Pratt (Earl); son, Ronald Gene Geary (Vicky); stepson, Matthew Evan Geary (Laura); sisters, Betty Lou Schlayer (Keith) and Bonnie Sue Curtis (Billy); brother, Charles Clay Capers; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Randy Capers, Ryan Capers, Tyler Capers, Kyle James, Kenneth James and Steve Schlayer. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Vernant Baptist Church, 10891 Vernant Church Road, Foley, AL beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, she would love to have donations made to her favorite charities: Vernant Park Baptist Church, Billy Graham Evangelistic Assoc., Zola Levitt Ministries, Salvation Army, Waterfront Rescue Mission, or Wounded Warrior Project.
