Carl Dean Foster, Sr. 1931-2016 Carl Dean Foster, Sr., 85 of Defuniak Springs, FL passed away on Sat., Oct. 29, 2016. Carl was born on Oct. 18, 1931 to the late Douglas and Cleola Thompson Foster in Munson, Fl. He served his country in the Alabama National Guard during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Armstrong after 30 years. Carl enjoyed 35 years of retirement. He spent his retirement years fishing, shrimping and gardening. He was very unselfish with his time and was always there to help his family or friends in need. He and Martha enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. One of the highlights of his retirement years was a recent fishing trip to Alaska with his brother. Carl was very happy in his life and loved to make jokes with everyone he met. He was a very blessed and spiritual man and loved to attend the campground chapel near his home on Kings Lake. Carl adored his three boys. His family was the most important thing to him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Mason Foster; great grandson, Michael Jaden Foster; parents; and brother, Erby Gene Foster. Carl is survived by Martha Sharp, beloved companion of 6 years and her daughter Cindy Biggs; his three sons, Dean Foster, Wayne (Susan) Foster and Danny (Wendy) Foster; his six grandchildren, Douglas Foster, III, Kathryn (Ian) Walsh, Ashley (Chad) Potter, Elizabeth Foster, Joseph Foster and Amanda Foster; his six great grandchildren; three siblings, Shirley (Pat) Hawkins, Charlotte (Jerry) Thomas and Sonny (Pat) Foster; one aunt, Lillie Mae Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Eleanor Foster; and his dog Buddy. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 2, 2016 at Lakeview Baptist Church, 1100 W. Michigan Ave., Pensacola, FL with Rev. Danny Glidewell and Rev. David Aultman officiating. Burial will follow services at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 1, 2016 at the church.
