Betty Jo Fuller

Betty Jo Fuller, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 24. Born the youngest of seven children on Oct. 23, 1938 in Jay, Florida and raised in Jay and Century, Betty married Dan Fuller at the age of 15 and the two went on to grow a family of seven children. Betty lived most of her life in and around Pensacola, but spent the 1960s in St. Louis, Mo., when her husband’s job as a train engineer took the family there. She was happy to return to her extended family in Florida, but kept a piece of St. Louis with her, remaining a devoted Cardinals fan for life. Until her health made her fragile, she loved to travel, and particularly enjoyed spending time in the mountains of Tennessee. She had many jobs during her life, including managing the cafeteria at Santa Rosa Christian Academy and later training as a florist and hair stylist. Her creative talents were undeniable and perhaps best displayed in her amazing cooking. No family reunion was complete without her fried chicken or one of her delicious - sometimes experimental - cakes. After retiring from her last job in the hair salon at Azalea Trace, Betty stayed busy, often caring for grandchildren, spending hours talking with them and cooking their favorite meals. Known simply as “Aunt Bea” to dozens of nieces and nephews and “Grandmamma” to her adoring grandchildren, Betty was a force of nature - the glue that held her family together - and a fighter for those she loved. She was a tiny person, but loved with such fierceness and boundlessness that, to her family, she was bigger than life. She was a devoted member of Smyrna Baptist Church and she loved and served her Lord and her church family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but there is comfort in the knowledge that she is with her Savior in a world free of pain and limitations, awaiting reunion with those left behind. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lillie Mae Dunsford; sister Cammie Simmons, and brothers Dewy, Rudolph and Cleon Dunsford. She is survived by her husband Daniel S. Fuller of Pensacola; three sons, Danny Fuller, wife Lisa and children Leah, Ashley and Devon; Paul Fuller, wife Donna and children Blaine, Caleb and Grace; and Marc Fuller, wife Kelli, children Branden, Abigail and Olivia; four daughters, Cindy Ford, husband Rick; Becky Fore, husband Tony and children Rachael, Tony and Angie; Lisa Trinkle, husband Mark and daughter Lily; and Allison Carter, husband Richie and sons Drew and Justin. She is also survived by her sister and best friend Vonnie LaCoste and brother A.T. Dunsford; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
