Betty Jean Harrell Claude Our beautiful Mother passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 9, 2023, surrounded by her children. She was born in Pensacola, Florida on July 14, 1934, where she has lived for 88 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Adaline Lindsay, her father, Frank Joseph Harrell, a sister, Constance Verley Reynolds, and her former husband and friend, John Leeds Worthington Claude, Sr. She is survived by her three children: one son, John Leeds Worthington Claude, Jr. (Kelly); two daughters, Tanis Annette Meldrum and Jana Denise Roland (Gary); ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She lived her life giving all she had to her children and to any other family members that needed love and caring. She was a devoted wife and Mother, a wonderful friend, and a devout Christian. She was very giving and her baking skills were stellar. She loved to prepare dishes to share with family, friends and the congregation at Heritage Baptist Church of Pensacola, where she was a member. Family was always welcomed into our home when they needed a place to stay. She loved to crochet and made numerous afghans, baby blankets, and ornaments that she would give as gifts to others. Her organizational skills were enviable and she managed to accomplish all that she set out to do. She was a pillar of strength to our family and a soft place to fall. Her impeccable style matched her inner beauty. Her very loving, warm and giving heart will leave a void in our lives, but will provide the memories that we will carry forever in our hearts. We love you and will miss you, Mom! You were the best! The family of Betty Claude will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 a.m., Friday January 13, 2023 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South and services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Betty will be laid to rest at St. John Masonic Cemetery following the service. Pall Bearers will include John L. W. Claude Jr., son, Correy Claude, grandson, Joel Pagan, great grandson, Gary Roland, son-in-law, Ken Gundersen, friend, and Andrew Malack, pastor.
