Barbara Ann Spencer Regan

Barbara Ann Spencer Regan (“Babs”) passed from this life to rest on July 11, 2025, and awaits Christ call at His second coming. She was a lifelong resident of Escambia County. A prayer warrior and a devout Seventh Day Adventist. She read the PNJ daily and did the word Jumble, big fan of Billy Graham’s sage advice and admired Quint Studer’s weekly articles and devotion to making Pensacola a stronger community. She wrote many a letter to the Editor over her lifetime. And was featured in an article in May 2014 about her concern for our large Veteran Population in Northwest Florida. Along with being a voracious reader, she was a forward thinker. She was a proud US ARMY Veteran who served her country as a MASH unit nurse during the Korean Conflict. When she came back home to Pensacola from Korea she worked for St. Regis as an Industrial nurse, and for the ECHD as a visiting nurse. In July 1957 she married Jim Regan, a Builder, Land Developer, and a Real Estate Broker in Florida and Alabama. She joined him in his business and was one of the few female Florida Real Estate Brokers in her day. She was a licensed Broker for 65+ years. However, once a nurse always a nurse. Dad was a Builder and Mom was a Healer at heart. She was beautiful, intelligent, and quick-witted! Her all-time favorite joke was when she gets to the pearly gates her husband Jim will be waiting for her. And when he sees her, he exclaims, “Finally! My third rib.” She was his third wife but the one that lasted 52 years before his passing in 2009. She adored him and always said “your father is the smartest man I ever knew.” She had plenty of suitors. I know, I saw the love letters and pics from many a beau at Tate High School class of 49, Army Doctors and Fly boys during her service. She saved EVERYTHING! Jim won her over with his charm and brains, and she was completely smitten. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Ward Burkett, husband, James Ronald Regan, stepsons, Ronald C. Bridges and Daniel T. Regan, daughters Elisa Angela Sears, Katherine Serena Manlove, and Sarah Jane Regan. Grandsons Kevin A. Bridges, Daniel C. Bridges, and Brewer T. Regan. Great Grandson Alex Cox. She is survived by her son James Spencer Regan of Pensacola, FL, Daughters Elinor Regan- Smith of Collierville, TN and Tiffany R. Rodriguez (Justin) of Chapel Hill, TN. Granddaughters Dawn Bridges Brown, Cantonment, FL, Barbara Ann Cox of Pensacola, FL, Tabitha Dawn Sears of Ocala, FL. Grandsons Gary D. Cox and Jessie Fowler both of Pensacola, FL Jacob D. Smith of San Diego, CA Mitchell Rodriguez and Ben Rodriguez both of Nashville, TN Great Grandsons Devin Denham of Milton, FL and Zack C. Bridges of Foley, AL and Travis J. Bridges of Cantonment, FL. Great Granddaughter Emma Cox of Panama City, Fl. The family would like to thank all her doctors and nurses that she had seen through the years at Baptist Hospital. A special thanks to her primary care Sherri Ellis, NP in Perdido, FL for her wonderful and considerate care. Also, her church family at Blue Angel SDA who visited her faithfully every Sabbath when she was no longer able to attend. It brightened her day! Services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home located at 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Family visitation at 9:30am, General visitation at 10am. Service at 11am followed by burial with military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1pm. In lieu of flowers that family requests donations be made to Manna Food Bank and/or Council on Aging of West Florida. Families shouldn’t go hungry and Elderly folks should be protected… James 1:27 Mom was a Faithful tither. She always said, "remember to tithe Elinor with your time, talent and money. God only ask for 10% when He continuously gives us 100% forgiveness thru His Son Jesus.”
