It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Babcock. She peacefully left this world on Saturday, May 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was a remarkable mother who dedicated her life to her six children, and leaves a legacy of love and joy. Barbara enjoyed a long and fulfilling life, filled with precious memories and countless moments of happiness. Her strong will, resilience, and unwavering love were the pillars that held her family together, guiding them through life’s ups and downs. She was an extraordinary mother, whose nurturing nature and selflessness were evident in everything she did. Throughout her life, Barbara cultivated various interests and passions, enriching her life and the lives of those around her. She had an insatiable appetite for reading and would often be found immersed in a good book. Another passion that brought immense joy to Barbara's life was dancing. Whether it was in the privacy of her own home or at social gatherings, she would light up the room with her graceful movements and infectious enthusiasm. Among Barbara's simple pleasures in life were the sweet and spicy delights of spice drop candies. She had a special fondness for the unique flavors and would often indulge in them, finding comfort and happiness in their familiar taste. The vibrant colors and playful nature of these candies mirrored her own vibrant personality and brought a smile to her face. Her children were her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the values that will continue to guide their paths. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, resilience and unyielding spirit that will live on in the hearts of her 6 children, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and the many lives she touched. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Babcock; father, Walter Greany; mother, Jeannette Young Greany; sister, Brenda Greany Williams; son-in-law, Richard Melia (husband of Terri Melia); grandson, Richard Babcock Jr, Jean Babcock; daughter-in-law (Guy Babcock), Patti Butcher. Left behind to cherish her memory include, sons, Robert Babcock (Sherry), Walter Babcock, Richard Babcock (Linda), Guy Babcock (Patti Deceased); daughters, Terri Melia (Richard, deceased) and Lynn Heath; grandchildren, Jean, Cheryl, Brandi (Michael), Christopher (Christy), Richard, Sean, Richard, Katie, Justin, Kit; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Leah, Hunter, Colton, Skylar, Colton, Oakley, Fynn, McKenzie, Mason; nephews, Thomas, and Steven. Visitation services for Barbara Jean Babcock will begin with 10:30a.m. – 11:30a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South (100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL 32505).
