Anita Javier De Leon Agunias

Anita “Nita” Javier de Leon Agunias of Pensacola was 82 when she passed away early Sunday evening, 11th April 2021. Born 23th October 1938, in the Rizal Province, the city of Malabon, Metro-Manila, Philippines. She was the daughter of the late Teodulo and Felisa de Leon. The eldest of five, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Alejandra “Anding” Matanguihan, Leandro “Idoy” de Leon, Teodora “Dascion” Simbahan, Daniel “Danny” de Leon; and a daughter, Mary Rose. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Dominador “Jing” Agunias; daughters Donna Winterberry, and Dominique “Nikki” Warner; grandchildren, Erik Carillion, Noelanie Mathias, Nathaniel Mathias, Nina Mathias, and Tricia Warner. Nita graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines with a degree in Social Work and Education. She started teaching English at St James Academy, Malabon, Metro-Manila and then later at La Salle Green Hills Private School, Mandaluyong, Philippines. In her early twenties, she traveled stateside to San Diego, California where she met and married Jing. As a navy wife traveling to various duty stations, she worked as a social worker, a teacher, an auditor, and an accountant. She was an active member in various organizations to include CUFOT, Mabuhay Dancers, San Lorenzo, Upang, and Fil-Am of Pensacola. Nita was a Godly woman who served the Lord faithfully. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel and Little Flower Catholic Church. She often volunteered to lead prayers for the faithfully departed. Let her dedication and devotion to the Lord, her enduring love for her family, along with her service to others be an inspiration for us all. Visitation will be Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Little Flower Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM. Reverend Father Peter McLaughlin will be Celebrant. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Little Flower Catholic Church.
