Sara Thomas Doner

Sarah (Tomp) was born on May 5, 1933 to Pauline and Walter R. Burr, Sr. in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She married Bob Doner, the love of her life, on March 17, 1967 and together they raised her son Tom Campbell in Pensacola, Florida. She began her career working at the Corry Station Bowling Center, Pensacola in 1978. After twenty years of service, Sarah retired in 1998 as Manager of MWR for NAS Pensacola and Corry Station Pensacola. Sarah was an avid bowler on many leagues over the years and her love for the sport provided many opportunities to participate in numerous tournaments and exhibitions nationwide. Through her bowling she made and kept many friendships, all of whom she loved dearly. After serving the military men and women and their families, Sarah renewed her faith and her love for Jesus Christ. She was welcomed with open arms at her beloved Bellview United Methodist Church. She enjoyed so much being able to serve God, her church and the community. Throughout her life, Sarah always felt she was blessed with many friends that she loved dearly and they became her extended family. Her love for her immediate family filled her heart and she was always so proud of each and everyone. Sarah was known for her quick wit, her warm and loving smile and her kind and compassionate spirit. Sarah was preceded in death by her father and mother, Walter and Pauline Burr; her loving husband, Bob; her grandson, Justin Campbell; her sister, Ruth (Burr) Drye; and her brothers, David, Rufus, Beauford, Walter Jr., and Pete Burr. She is survived by her son, Thomas Campbell and many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be Friday, December 10, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Pastor Nancy Hammond will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola. In Lieu of flowers, the family would like you to make a donation to a charity of your choice.
