Obituary for John Marion Dixon
John “Johnny” Marion Dixon 1948-2017
John "Johnny" Marion Dixon of Pensacola passed away peacefully on Fri., Feb. 10, 2017, surrounded by his family. John was born in Pensacola, FL on Oct. 17, 1948, to Harvey Marion and Maggie Ruth Steele Dixon. He attended Pensacola High School before joining the service in 1966. He proudly served his country in the U. S.Army, in the 101st and 82nd Airborne division during the Vietnam era. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey "Buddy" Dixon and James "Russ" Dixon; and sisters, Donna Jean Marconi, Joanne Graessle, Jerrie McNair and Judi Hamm. John is survived by his wife, Shasta Dixon; daughters, Jennifer (Brian) Bell and Emily (Nate) VanSickle; stepchildren, Sarah (Grant Newman) Lyons, Drew (Kendra) Lyons and Katelin (Jess) Sayre; 13 grandchildren; brother, Jack (Linda Sue) Dixon; sisters, Joyce (Lyle) Bartsch and Linda (Rick) Bunger; and many nieces and nephews. John loved the Florida State Seminoles and his beloved yellow labs, Trouble and Roxi. Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South on Thurs., Feb. 16, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with services following at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Barrances National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to any of the following: Disabled American Veteran's, Paralyzed Veteran's of America or your local Wounded Warrior Project. The family would like to especially thank Cardiologist, Dr. Jaalouk, for his continued support and exceptional care.
